The Essentials Business Valuation Report is designed for small businesses with annual revenue under $750,000 and is available for companies with up to $2 million in annual sales. It is ideal for business owners and brokers who need a credible, professional valuation rather than a generic, computer-generated report.
This 18+ page report goes beyond surface-level estimates by using Sales and SDE valuation methods incorporating hand-picked business comparables and tailored financial adjustments to accurately reflect the business's true worth. The report operates under the simplified assumption that all working capital remains with the seller and is not available for businesses with real estate ownership or related-party lease agreements.
What sets it apart is the personalized service included with every report. Business owners and brokers receive a video summary of the findings and a consultation with the certified appraiser who prepared it. This ensures full clarity and confidence in the valuation.
With upfront pricing and no hidden fees, the Essentials Report provides reliable, high-quality insights for buying, selling, or strategic planning, delivering the trusted valuation support you need.

BizWorth offers two service options for advisors ordering informational reports: full-service and self-service. These options apply to the Essentials Valuation Report and the Standard Valuation Report when custombranding is selected. Full-service is included with all Certified Summary Reports. The right choice depends on your expertise, available time, and the level of support you need in gathering and preparing the financial data.
Full-Service (Most Common): Full-service is the preferred option for most advisors because it simplifies the process and ensures accuracy. With this option, BizWorth conducts the owner's interview and performs all necessary financial adjustments before completing the valuation. As the advisor, your role is limited to providing tax returns or financial statements, and BizWorth handles the rest. The team coordinates directly with you to schedule the owner's interview with your client, and you have the flexibility to introduce the BizWorth certified appraiser as part of your team. This approach ensures that financial adjustments and working capital assessments are completed correctly.
Full-service is ideal for advisors who want to minimize their workload while ensuring financial accuracy. It is a great fit for brokers who prefer to avoid completing a detailed financial spreadsheet and for those looking for a seamless, time-saving solution. While full-service comes at a slightly higher cost, it eliminates the burden of data collection and guarantees a professionally reviewed valuation.
Self-Service: Self-service is available exclusively to members of BizWorth’s Valuation Partner Program who have the necessary training and experience to accurately complete the financial intake spreadsheet. Unlike full-service, this option requires the advisor to conduct the owner's interview, extract financial data from tax returns or financial statements, and manually enter all financial adjustments and working capital details into the provided spreadsheet.
With self-service, tax returns or financial statements cannot be submitted, as BizWorth does not review financial documents for these orders. Instead, the company relies entirely on the spreadsheet data provided by the advisor, making accuracy a key responsibility. Any errors in financial inputs can directly impact the valuation results. While this option lowers costs, it requires significant time, financial expertise, and precision.
Self-service is best suited for advisors who are confident in their ability to handle financial adjustments and data entry independently. It is a good choice for those looking to reduce costs and take a hands-on approach but may not be the right fit for those who prefer expert oversight. For advisors seeking a streamlined process with professional review, full-service remains the better option.

The terms “profit & loss statement” and “income statement” are often used interchangeably, and in many contexts, they refer to the same financial document. However, there might be some subtle differences in how they are used in various industries or regions. Generally, they both represent a summary of a company’s revenues, costs, and expenses during a specific period.
No, but you can consult with you advisor, lender, or CPA on which you should use as the basis for your valuation. When both are upload, you are leaving it to BizWorth to choose which to use and we’d prefer that you and your advisors make that decision.
No, the reconciliation between tax returns and financial statements occur with our Quality of Earnings (QOE) reports, not during the valuation process. If you are interested in BizWorth reconciling these records, be sure to inquire about our QOE reports.
The Self-Service option is designed for members of BizWorth’s Valuation Partner Program with specialized training and knowledge who prefer a hands-on approach to the data collection process. Unlike Full-Service, it puts the responsibility on the member to complete the Financial Intake Spreadsheet, allowing for more active involvement in the data collection phase. This is only available to members ordering informational valuations (not Certified Summary Reports) for their clients and delivering reports under their brand.
The estimated delivery date of the report is the same for both services; however, if the business owner is unavailable for the owner’s interview when requested, there will likely be a delay in report delivery until the owner is available to participate in the interview.
No, Self-Service is ideal for only businesses with annual revenue less than $50 million.
Members can find the spreadsheet by clicking the "i" icon at the top of the page of the member’s secure data collection portal or under "Files shared with you." The spreadsheet requires details such as company name, P&L statement dates, balance sheet dates, and specific financial data, including revenue, expenses, and adjustments.
The Self-Service option is tailored for members of BizWorth’s Valuation Partner Program who have specialized training and knowledge in financial matters.
No, once the valuation process has commenced, it's not possible to switch from Self-Service to Full-Service without first cancelling the existing order. This ensures consistency and efficiency in the valuation workflow. It's recommended to determine the preferred level of service before initiating the process to align with your desired involvement throughout the valuation. However, if you wish to change your service level, you can cancel the existing order, then proceed to re-order the report with the desired Full-Service option. This process allows flexibility in adapting to your preferences but requires canceling the initial order and placing a new one.
The Financial Intake Spreadsheet is a comprehensive tool designed for experienced members of the Valuation Partner Program to provide essential financial information. Here's a detailed description of the key sections:
